Oldoinyo Eburru Forest Hike – Western Summit Trail

Overview

8

Eburru Forest, located on the outskirts of Naivasha, offers a serene and dramatic escape. This 22km trek takes hikers through a lush mountain forest ecosystem, rich in biodiversity, featuring diverse forest types, steep valleys, springs, and waterfalls. It's home to majestic indigenous trees, abundant birdlife, and over 40 species of mammals, including the critically endangered mountain bongo. The hike ascends Oldoinyo Eburru mountain, a complex volcano with two summits, the higher one reaching 2,856m above sea level. The trail progresses from an easy-to-moderate forest road to a moderate-to-hard ascent through thick vegetation and bamboo zones to the Western Summit.
